Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Have you heard this song yet?  The single has been out for a few weeks but the album just came out and while I am processing the whole album the song “Never Once” keeps coming back into mind.  In the midst of the events of the last 11 months this song speaks some fresh words.  I wanted to post the lyrics for you and a youtube copy of the song afterwards.  Enjoy! Music Review: Red “Until We Have Faces”

Friday, February 4th, 2011

As a Christian it is very hard to find decent music.  I love music and I desire to have good music pumping into my ears at all hours.  However, too often I see these bands that are hyped by Christian media outlets and they are disappointing  at best.  Too many times Christian bands rip off secular artists in an attempt to entice Christians to listen to “clean” secular music.  However, Red is not one of them.  I managed to get this album 2 days before official release because they had an advance copy of it at the WinterJam concert I took my youth to see on Saturday.   (more…)

Better than a Hallelujah

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Today’s sermon was not the one I had planned on giving, I guess I will save that until next week.  This weeks sermon is based on the new song by Amy Grant “Better than a Hallelujah.”  See if you have been following along my wife and I just had a new baby and I heard this song on the radio after my daughter O.J. was born and I wept like a baby and it just played over and over in my head until I turned it into a sermon this morning.  Here is the music video for the song.  At the bottom of this post you can find the Audio for the Sermon you can click here and download it on iTunes

I am Second.

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Recently, I saw this video on YouTube and I was astonished.  This kind of stuff is how we know the gospel really is true.  As you watch this video please be warned that this video shows in graphic detail a man’s life transformed by the good news of Jesus.

However, I realize that not all of us have had lives filled with drugs or been in rock bands, but I think we can agree that we haven’t lived up to the standard of life that we have wanted for ourselves or that has been set before us.  This is where Jesus comes into the picture.

Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God.  Jesus is God in the flesh who became all of the failings and imperfections that we are so that we can become the perfection that he is.

Jesus is the one who when we can’t handle what our life is, or how we live it he becomes our life and allows us to live in him.

When we live in Christ then Christ is first and we truly are second.
