destroyed view of God

Recently a group of people have been driving around proclaiming that the end of the world will be coming on May 21, 2011. Given the amount of blogs that have spilled ink on this topic I figured I would add to them. I do think they are wrong and I do think they are manipulating scripture to get the answer they want but they have some very devoted followers. The part that really upsets me with this issue is that ~~dozens of~~ people will wake up on May 22 and now their entire world view has been destroyed. The thing they have given up their life for was wrong. How do you reconcile that to your worldview? These people have just found out the hard way that everything they believed in doesn’t exist. What do you do? What do you do next, now that everything is gone?

I am reminded of the Israelites who left slavery in Egypt. Their entire worldview was turned upside down overnight. Now they are no longer objects for someone else’s pleasure they are now human again. What is a person to do? For the Israelites that had to learn all over again what it means to be a human.

Having a destroyed view of faith/world/god is dangerous because no one tells you what to do next.
