the empty seat
In less than 24 hours it will be thanksgiving. This is a time when more people travel than any other time of year. It also happens to be a time when there are more empty seats than any other time.
For many this Thanksgiving there will be an empty seat at the table. This year may be the first time the seat has been empty, for me it is.
What do you do? Do you fill the seat or leave it empty in memory?
I wonder what the disciples did at the first communion after the ascension?
If this is your first Thanksgiving with an empty seat I have no idea what to say to help, no trite P.C. comment is going to help and more platitudes are not what anyone wants.
All I can say is that in our grief God is with you and has experienced what it is to have an empty seat at the table.
