Sometimes we just need a change

October 7, 2010

If you are a regular visitor of my site then you may have noticed that I changed my theme.  I was using a great theme called “Simple Pastor” and I liked it but I felt like I should change it a little.  Sometimes life is like that, we just need a little change.Sometimes change is a matter of a haircut or a new outfit.  Sometimes it is big change, like moving, or a new job.  Whatever it is, sometimes we just need a change.  Sometimes things end up feeling like the Macarena, old and stale.

Too often we do this, we feel like we are in a rut and need a change so we change something.

What about God?  How often does God change something on us?  God never changes but how often does God change the theme, looks, or means by which we follow God?

God is always the same and we can always relate to God through Jesus but does God ever change how we become closer to God?  Some people feel close to God when they listen to music, serve those in need, or ride their lawn mower.  Will God change that?

I don’t know, I think the Holy Spirit gives us certain gifts at certain times to do specific things and when those things are done then something else arises that God wants us to do and either our gifts change or we get new gifts that are fitting to the purpose God has for us.

That’s really the thing, God has a purpose for us.  God has a purpose for you.  I don’t know what that is and you might not either but God has a purpose for you.  No matter what has happened or why it happened you have a purpose for you life.  You have a purpose that never goes stale and always brings you closer to the God who made you.

How do you find out your purpose?  What is your passion?  What is it that moves you deep in the soul of your being?  Then, how can you use that passion to make this world better?  When you can put those two things together you can have a pretty good idea of your purpose in this world.

Will that change?  Sometimes, maybe your started your purpose as wanting to be a police officer and help people because that would make this world better but now your purpose is to preach about Jesus on Sunday and see people change and then they change the world for the better.

Sometimes your passions will change and maybe the God who gave you those passions is changing them for a new thing that has never been seen before.

So then, may you go and do what you are passionate about and do it in the name of Jesus who loves you enough to die for you.  - Amen
