Today is Resurrection Sunday.  Everything has changed forever because Jesus is alive!!

Today’s service was great.  There seemed to be a humming energy among the congregation, and it was a great.  It could have been the weather, the holiday, or (hopefully) the Holy Spirit.

We started the entire service with this video from Rob Bell and then moved into announcements.

Resurrection: Rob Bell from The Work of Rob Bell on Vimeo.

After this we went through the service and moved into my sermon.  A note about my sermon though.  If you listen to my sermon on iTunes you can unsubscribe from the old link and resubscribe by clicking here or if you want to listen you can find the link at the end of this post.

My sermon was a finish to the book of John.

John only has 8 miracles.  The resurrection is the last miracle and it takes place on the first day of the week.

This should remind us of Creation.  John relates everything about Jesus to us in terms of Creation.

In Genesis 1 every new day is something brand new that has never been done before.  When Jesus does a miracle it is something that has never been done before.

Then Mary Magdalene shows up and it is the exact opposite of what happens in Genesis.  Even brings in sin, Mary brings in a new Creation. Good to bad and bad to Good.

The resurrection starts a new week of creation and shows us that in the middle of this creation God is starting a brand new creation, because God is still in the business of Creation.

When Jesus talks to the disciples he invites them to be part of a creation that never dies. He is relating to them a new creation that no longer has a death problem (Rev. 21:4)

The resurrection is a beautiful, majestic, insistence that the whole world is being changed forever and now we get to be a part of it.

  1. Your so right the “resurrection is so beautiful & majestic”. I do not understand how anyone hearing this story could not be compelled to follow the Risen Savior! All that He did for us I am so grateful.
