Miley Cyrus and God?

January 26, 2010

I spent some time on Youtube.com looking for funny videos and I came across this Video and it got me thinking about God and how we respond to him. So watch the video and then read my explanation YouTube Preview Image

In this video there are three people who are all hearing the same song, we could say they are all experiencing the same thing that God is doing in their life (However, Miley Cyrus is not God) and yet each of them respond every differently.

The first one is the young man sitting in the chair, he ignores the entire thing. He thinks he is too good to take part in what is happening around him, even though he can plainly se it.  How often do we do that? We see God doing something right in front of us and we notice it but we do nothing.  We might glance at it but we ignore it.

The second young man is the one on the left who drops his hat but then stops to pick it up.  He was willing to throw it all away in worship and give everything he had to the song but only if he looked right.  How many of us are like that?  We are willing to worship, serve, love, and give all that we have as long as we look right.  As long as the outside looks good we are fine and if the outside messes up we stop everything we are doing to make sure we still look good before we go on.

The third person is the one on the right who appears to give it all to his worship.  He throws his head back and sings a Miley Cyrus song with reckless abandon. Shouldn’t this be us? Shouldn’t we forget whether it is immature or if it is a fad that will pass, and simply respond to what God is doing?  It may not be popular, it might get you mocked (and it might get you put into a blog post) but you are responding to the God who created you and isn’t that what matters most?
