First Present of Christmas *warning gross*
Yesterday was Christmas. I actually woke up first, so I came downstairs, took the dog out, and had coffee. By 8:30 my son woke up, he is 21 months. After I got him out of his crib I changed his diaper and it was a mess. There was poop everywhere, that diaper was so full. Normally when people think of dirty diapers they think of disgusting, smelly, horrible, things. Yet, maybe dirty diapers on Christmas morning is really something to praise about. Here is the thing about dirty diapers. You only get them if everything else is working right.
Several times the Old Testament the writers talk about “A land flowing with milk and Honey.” Yet never do the authors write about actually getting honey or milk.
The only time you get honey or milk is when everything works the way it supposed to. The bees are buzzing, the flowers are blooming, the sun is shinning, AND the rain is falling.
The same with dirty diapers. We only get them if my son is eating, growing, digesting, when his body is taking out nutrients. If he stops pooping then something is wrong. If it goes on too long then something is really wrong.
When there is poo in your life then maybe it means everything is going exactly the way it should be.
Yes, we still get rid of the poo because it will cause a rash if it is not dealt with. The poo needs dealt with so that the smell goes away and so that we can get back to what we were doing before the poo showed up.
Maybe then, after we get rid of the dark stuff (throwing it in the fan is not advised) we can praise God that everything is working right?
When the poo flows everything is working exactly the way God designed it, even if that means the poo stinks and we don’t like it.
