Pig bladders + Power tools = Perfection?
Yesterday I happen to be watching the show “Iron Chef America” and one chef was using a pig bladder to poach a chicken and another was using power tools to cut an ice bowl.
This whole idea got me thinking about perfection what does it take to make perfection? It appears that the perfect meal on Iron Chef America takes a pig bladder and power tools. What about perfect people?
God seems to use all sorts of weird methods to make perfection and yet we still never seem to reach perfection? What if instead of pig bladders God used events? Events that we didn’t like or want to happen. What if instead of power tools God worked within our friends and family to cut away the parts of us we didn’t like? Perhaps? Perhaps not? I’m not sure. I don’t know if I will ever understand why God does what he does.
Yet, I know when I look in the mirror I’m not perfect. When will I reach perfection? How will I know I have perfection? Do I have to earn perfection? Can I get it in this lifetime?
Still not sure, I am pretty sure I can’t earn perfection or get it on my own. I am further convinced that if I am gonna be perfect in this life it is going to only happen if Jesus helps.
Maybe Jesus helping means using pig bladders and power tools or maybe it means washing machines that vomit water all over my basement floor and water heaters that break on me.
Sometimes I don’t want to be perfect and yet, Jesus desires me to be perfect so he will use those things I don’t like to make me perfect? That is when it hurts the most and the only thing I can do is fall down and let Jesus work on me.
